Japanese Bondage Dictionary

This a quick guide to help you translate Japanese bondage terminology into English. Please note I am no expert in Japanese or Bondage, but this is what my research has come up with. Please use this guide to better help you understand this website, and Japanese culture! 😀

Agura Shibari –  Japanese bondage form, tied in a cross legged position with the body upright.

Aomuki Shibari – Face up suspension.

Asanawa – Hemp rope.

Bari – Abbreviation of Shibari.

Bakushi – Rope master.

Dorei – A Japanese slave, held against will.

Ebi – “Shrimp” torture technique, bound in a cross-legged sitting position the head is bent toward the chest and bound to the legs.

Gyaku-Ebi – “Reverse Shrimp” A Japanese hogtie.

Hashira Ushirodaki – Bound to a pole, mainly Bamboo.

Isu-Jyo Kohai – Japanese chair bondage.

Jo-Osama – Dominate Japanese girl, usually in latex or PVC.

Juujun – Obedient and submissive.

Kata-Ashi Tsuri – On legged bondage suspension.

Kinbaku – Tightly bound with rope, bondage.

Kinbakushi – Rope bondage master.

Kotsu – Torture, inflicting pain.

Kotobu Ryo-Tekubi – Japanese binding of the wrists positioned behind the neck.

Kukuro – To tie up.

Matanawa – Crotch rope bondage.

Momo – “Peach” kneeling position, arms are pulled between legs and tied to ankles.

Musubime – Rope knot.

Musubu – To bind, to tie.

Mutchiuchi – Whipping a prisoner.

Nawa – Rope.

Nawagei – Rope art.

Nawasemeku – Torturous rope bondage.

Ryo-Tekubi – Binding the wrists together.

Ryo-Ashi Tsuri – Suspended face down with a chest harness. Support ropes on the hips, ankles and sometimes thighs.

Sakasa Tsuri – Suspended upside down, by the feet or waist.

Santen Tsuri – Suspended in a sitting position.

Shibari – Same as Kinbaku, bondage.

Shibariageru – To bind, tie up.

Shibarikomu – To bind together.

Shibarimasu – Tie or untie someone.

Shibaraaretai – Nawa juujun who loves being restrained.

Shihai-Teki – Dominant

Take Shibari – Bamboo used in bondage .

Tanuki Tsuri – “Raccoon” Suspend face up by the wrists and ankles.

Tsuri – To suspend or hang.

Tsurinawa – Suspension with rope

Tsuriwaza – Suspension work

Ushirode Gassho – Arms bound behind the back in a prayer position.

Ushirode Tasuki – Rope chest harness, holding arms behind the back.

Yoko Tsuri – “Side” Suspended hanging in a sideways position.

Zemewaza – Torture work
